Edwin “Duke” Snider was the heart of center field for the Brooklyn Dodgers throughout their golden era and became a fan favorite among the legendary triumvirate of New York center fielders alongside Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays. Known as “The Duke of Flatbush,” Snider was a power, hitting dynamo who led the National League in home runs during the 1950s and was named to eight All-Star teams. His offensive firepower, over 40 home runs in five straight seasons, and graceful defense helped anchor the Dodgers' potent lineup during their numerous pennant runs.
Snider’s consistency, charisma, and clutch postseason performances made him a legend in both Brooklyn and Los Angeles. He helped the Dodgers win six pennants and two World Series titles and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1980.
