Joe Collins was a steady, versatile first baseman and outfielder who spent his entire 10-year career with the New York Yankees during the height of their postwar dynasty. Though often in the shadow of bigger names, Collins played in seven World Series and won five. He was known for his discipline at the plate and his selfless approach, willing to platoon, change positions, or do whatever the team needed to win.
Over the seven World Series in which Collins played, he hit four home runs, despite hitting only 86 homers his entire career. His ability to come up big in the most crucial moments helped him establish his legacy as part of one of the most storied dynasties in sports.
